Police Schedule 3rd Citizen’s Academy
The Oxnard Police Department will offer a 13-week academy for residents interested in learning about police operations.
The third Citizen’s Academy will start July 30 and be held every Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. Most classes will be at the station at 251 South C St., Oxnard police spokesman David Keith said.
The goal of the academy is to educate Oxnard residents on the Police Department and how it functions, Keith said.
Classes will cover several topics, including the K-9 unit, SWAT team operations, narcotics enforcement, patrol duties, detectives, crime prevention, traffic, gangs, fire safety and community policing.
Men and women at least 18 years old and living or working in Oxnard can attend. For more information, call Keith at 385-7631.
