From Times Wire Reports

A frail-looking 88-year-old woman struck a deal to stay out of prison by pleading guilty in Courtland to voluntary manslaughter in the clubbing death of a younger man who lived in her home. Virginia Davis of Franklin entered the plea in the 1997 beating of 51-year-old John E. Wimbrow. Under the plea bargain, Circuit Judge E. Everett Bagnell sentenced her to 90 days of home confinement with electronic monitoring. She could have gotten life in prison if convicted.
