Hospital to Open, Expand Medical Programs
Daniel Freeman Memorial Hospital will open or expand three community medical programs, officials announced.
With a gift of $331,818 raised by the medical facility’s auxiliary guild, Helen’s Room, an image center for women battling the side effects of cancer treatment, will open in August. The money will also support the expansion of Sports on Wheels, an athletics program for people in wheelchairs, and the Labor Companion Program, which teams up pregnant women with support staff during labor and delivery.
“It is an absolute blessing to the women here,” said Asela Calhoun, coordinator of the maternity program. “ These funds will help us expand.”
The services will be free to the community.
