Execution Foes Have It Wrong
* Re “Thompson Executed for Laguna Rape-Killing,” July 14:
It is disgusting to open the paper and see opponents of the death penalty march for the rights of the condemned.
We have something seriously wrong in a society that is more preoccupied with the rights and treatment of criminals than of their victims. Perhaps those protesters should march for the humane treatment of crime victims instead of showing disrespect for victims by coddling offenders.
What society is in desperate need of is stricter laws and punishment that is swift, certain and severe.
