Ethnic Harmony

The information and opinions provided by Gregory Kane regarding Camille Cosby’s comments (Commentary, July 15) were sorely needed, and I thank him for his broad-minded article. I wish, however, that he had not made the statement, “Hating each other is what Americans do.” I don’t know of any other country that has been more successful in its promotion of ethnic and racial harmony than the United States.

Consider the difference between now and 50 years ago in the access by all ethnic groups to societal benefits and opportunities. Also compare our own condition to other parts of the world--Bosnia, Northern Ireland, the former Soviet republics.
