Boyce and Pollard
I was fascinated by the July 10 article about convicted spy and bank robber Christopher Boyce, who will soon be eligible for parole. His fellow spy, Andrew Daulton Lee, has already been paroled, and presumably Boyce would also be free today if not for the prison escape and bank robberies. Yet Jonathan Pollard, who spied for a friendly country, languishes in prison with no possibility of parole.
The blatant disparity between the two, who sold secrets to the Russians at the height of the Cold War, and Pollard, who shared secrets with an ally, cannot be tolerated in a fair society. I have no quarrel with Lee’s and Boyce’s freedom; it is only fair that Pollard join them.
