Dangerous Drinking?

Share

Regarding Susan Spano’s article “The Case for a Woman Alone Going to a Bar in a Strange City” (Her World, June 21):

She says that her list of things to do when visiting a city always includes “a stop at the best bar in town.” I quote Spano: “Women and bars are a dangerous combination, or so one is told. But I don’t care. . . . “ She mentions one evening that became a “perfectly poised interlude, well worth the little risk taken in pursuing it.”

Her next interlude may not be poised.

With all the sexual assaults on women, how could this person suggest to other women that this is a “fun thing to do” when she is aware that rendezvous in bars have led to rape and even murder? Other women may not play the part as smart as she thinks she does and may only be asking for trouble. It was an inappropriate article and reckless writing.
