The Academy of Magic Arts has been sued by a man who says a tiger “whacked” him in the wildest jungle of all--Hollywood.
Edward E. Milder of West Los Angeles contends that a tiger knocked him to the floor at the academy’s Magic Castle in October and left him with painful back injuries. The suit is seeking at least $25,000 in damages.
“The tiger took a whack at my client. Mr. Milder was momentarily knocked out,” attorney Ralph Boshes said.
Calls to the magicians’ club for comment were not immediately returned.
The incident allegedly occurred during a social affair for members of the Greater L.A. Press Club. Milder, who is in his 70s, is a member of both the press and the magic associations, his attorney said.
The tiger was being used as a prop in photographs being taken on stage that night and was not “adequately restrained,” the lawyer said.
