3 Teens Arrested in Vehicle Vandalism Spree

Three teens were arrested early Sunday on suspicion of breaking windows and side mirrors on 25 vehicles in Ventura and Santa Barbara, and police said they are investigating the trio in connection with another vandalism spree a week earlier.

Roger Keiaho, 18, and two 17-year-old boys, all of Ventura, were taken into custody after a witness saw a car being damaged about 5 a.m. on Brevard Avenue, said Ventura Police Sgt. George Morris.

Officers arrested the two juveniles in their car near the intersection of Day and Loma Vista roads, near where the vandalism began the previous weekend. Keiaho was arrested after he came to meet his friends.

Morris said the three are suspected of damaging five vehicles in Isla Vista in Santa Barbara and 20 in Ventura on Saturday night and early Sunday.

On May 22 and 23, more than a dozen homes and cars were damaged in rock and spray paint attacks across Ventura. During one of those incidents, a young boy was struck by flying glass after a rock smashed through the window of his home.

“At this time, we believe these same subjects are responsible for last weekend’s vandal incidents,” Morris said.
