Owens Lake Dust
Re “L.A., Owens Valley Get Extra Month to Resolve Dust Feud,” May 23: It seems like $300 million plus $40 million per year should go a long way toward building and operating a desalination plant (for dry years when it is needed). I think most of us here in Owens Valley and Indian Wells Valley who suffer the consequences would be willing to help the citizens of the L.A. Basin shoulder some of the costs to clean up this mess.
Gov. Pete Wilson must be planning another run for office. He often is able to sort out what’s right from wrong. But this time he obviously decided on the strength of the voter population rather than the issue.
