Reach Out and Recycle Old Telephone Books
- Share via
A telephone-book recycling drive sponsored by the city Bureau of Sanitation and Pacific Bell begins today and runs through July 15.
For residents and businesses in communities such as Canoga Park, Woodland Hills and Tarzana with no curbside collection, temporary drop-off locations have been established at Los Angeles city libraries.
Pacific Bell includes recycling information in new telephone books and reclaims old telephone books at the temporary locations, said Roland Silva, a sanitation bureau spokesman.
Year-round, residents can recycle old phone books with the rest of their clean paper including magazines, newspapers, unwanted mail, corrugated cardboard, cereal boxes and computer paper in blue containers for curbside collection.
Businesses and residents of apartment complexes without curbside collection of recyclables can call the Jefferson Smurfit Corp. at (818) 841-9700.
For more information about residential curbside recycling call the information line at (800) 953-4400.
