Ruth Agnes Dullam; Teacher, Volunteer

Teacher and longtime Ventura County resident Ruth Agnes Dullam died Monday. She was 81.

Dullam was born Dec. 2, 1916, in Saskatoon, Canada. She moved to Santa Monica in her early childhood and graduated from Venice High School and UCLA. In 1939, she married.

In 1950, Dullam moved with her husband to a ranch on Wright Road in Camarillo. Two years later, they relocated to a home in Ventura.

Dullam was active in the Ventura Assistance League and served one year as its president. She also enjoyed doing charity work for Los Patronas.

She taught kindergarten in the Pleasant Valley School District for 18 years until her retirement in 1978.

Dullam was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Frank Dullam, in 1996.

She is survived by a son, Tom Dullam of Ventura; a daughter, Linda Sellers of Ventura; a sister, Grace Berry of Santa Monica; and seven grandchildren.

There will be a visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Community Presbyterian Church in Ventura.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Assn. of Ventura County in Oxnard.
