Budget Surplus

Share

Let’s see if I have this right. The state of California has a $4.4 billion surplus that the Democrats want to spend on our children’s education and the Republicans want to spend by lowering the taxes on automobiles. In other words, the Democrats want to move the state back toward the position that it used to hold in this country as a leader in education, while the Republicans want to encourage greater use of automobiles, with the resulting increase in traffic congestion and pollution.

It must be an embarrassing time to be a Republican.

Once again our state government wants to give the privileged few a break in their vehicle registration fees. The people with the most expensive cars will benefit the most. If we have a surplus of funds, let us give everyone a share. There are many who do not own a vehicle. Reduce the sales tax and in that way everyone benefits.
