Polygamist Patriarch Accused of Abuse

A patriarch in a polygamist clan was charged in Salt Lake City for allegedly beating his 16-year-old daughter because she didn’t want to be the 15th wife of his brother. John Daniel Kingston, 43, of Salt Lake, turned himself in after the girl told detectives she had been beaten with a belt because she kept running away from her arranged marriage. Kingston is charged with second-degree felony child abuse, punishable by up to 15 years in prison. He was released on $10,000 cash bail.
