17-Year-Old on Trial in Mother’s Slaying

A 17-year-old boy covered his face in court in the town of Philadelphia as he watched himself on video saying he killed his mother before going on a shooting rampage at school because “she always never loved me.” Luke Woodham said in the confession that his mother blamed him for her divorce and problems with his brother. Woodham is on trial for murder in the Oct. 1 stabbing death of Mary Woodham, 50. She was killed at home several hours before two students were shot to death and seven others were wounded at Pearl High School. Woodham, who was 16 at the time, faces a second trial next week in Hattiesburg on murder, aggravated assault and conspiracy charges in the school rampage.
