Street Fair to Celebrate Renovation of Boulevard

The South Robertson Neighborhoods Council will sponsor a street festival Sunday to celebrate the renovation of Robertson Boulevard.

The event, co-sponsored by the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, will feature 18 booths by local businesses, the Hamilton High School gospel choir and children’s activities, said association President Malcolm Brown.

The South Robertson Neighborhoods Council was created 18 months ago to clean up a two-mile commercial zone of the boulevard between National and Pico boulevards.

To improve the area, the council raised money to plant 50 flowering trees along Robertson, lobbied to have the road resurfaced and repainted, organized graffiti-removal teams and formed a neighborhood watch committee.

The festival, at Robertson and Olin, will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
