Residents interested in helping to control rats, flies, mosquitoes and the diseases the pests spread can apply to represent the city on the Orange County Vector Control Board.

The board, established by county supervisors in 1947, includes 32 representatives, one from each city and one from unincorporated areas.

Board members meet at 3:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month. Other duties include occasional committee meetings, reviewing the annual budget of about $4.5 million and attending educational conferences. Trustees receive $50 per meeting to cover expenses.
