Man Found Fatally Shot After Car Chase
A 21-year-old man was found shot to death in his car early Saturday after a confrontation with possible vehicle theft suspects, police said.
Police discovered Armando Zuniga of Panorama City shot to death in his late-model Jeep about 4 a.m. in the 14500 block of Osborne Street.
According to police, Zuniga heard noises outside his house in the 8700 block of Wakefield Avenue about 3:45 a.m. Believing he spotted several people tampering with cars on the block, he got into his Jeep and followed them, said Los Angeles Police Det. Stephen Fisk.
Zuniga chased them about two blocks to Osborne Street. Witnesses heard several gunshots, and a resident reported a car parked on the wrong side of the street with the lights on and the engine running, Fisk said.
Police found Zuniga’s body in the vehicle.
“He took off after them and who knows what happened,” Fisk said. “He ended up dead a couple of blocks away.”
Police said they have no descriptions but that there may be two suspects.
