Huntington Beach Marketer Sues USWeb for $14 Million

A Huntington Beach marketing company said Wednesday it has filed a $14-million lawsuit in a Los Angeles court against USWeb Corp. and an affiliate, SystemLogic Inc.

Larmark Inc. alleges that USWeb and SystemLogic failed to fulfill a $277,055 contract that called for the creation of an Internet site, JewelryChannel.Com, dedicated to the jewelry trade. The suit also alleges breach of contract, fraud, negligent misrepresentation, unfair competition and false advertising.

The Superior Court suit seeks $257,785 for fees paid by Larmark to the defendants for services not provided; $300,000 for lost business expenditures; $13 million for future loss of revenue; and legal fees and court costs.

A USWeb spokesman said the company will vigorously defend itself against what it called a meritless suit. The company said the Larmark contract was with SystemLogic, an affiliate that USWeb does not own or control.
