Suspected ‘Deadbeat’ Dad Sent to County

One of Ventura County’s “Most Wanted Deadbeat Parents,” a 45-year-old man who authorities said owed $45,000 in child support payments, was arrested in Arizona, according to the district attorney’s office.

Phoenix police arrested Thomas Albert Hunt on an outstanding child support warrant issued in Ventura County in 1992. They learned about the warrant when asking Hunt for identification as part of a local Neighborhood Watch program, the district attorney’s office said in a news release.

Hunt, who was arrested May 26, was returned to Ventura County on Thursday.

He is the second suspected “deadbeat” extradited by the district attorney this year.

“This office will remain proactive in bringing ‘deadbeat parents’ to justice,” Dist. Atty. Michael D. Bradbury said in the release. “Child support enforcement is a priority in this office, and leaving the state will not stop our pursuit of parents who ignore their obligation.”
