Update--The Sparks revisit the site of their final day last summer, when Phoenix blocked their hoped-for trip to the playoffs with a 73-68 victory. The Mercury won its opener at Sacramento, 73-70. Brandy Reed, a rookie from Southern Mississippi, won it with a three-point basket in the final minute. Lisa Leslie, four days and one full practice after leading the U.S. team to a world championship in Berlin, had 24 points and 10 rebounds in 31 minutes for the Sparks in their 89-83 season-opening victory at Utah.
