Skills Center to Add Infant Care Course

Share

The North Valley Occupational-Pacoima Skills Center will offer a new infant care class when summer session registration starts Tuesday.

“Infant care is in tremendous demand now because of more mothers returning to the workplace,” said Judy Solomom-Marks, who will teach the class.

Students will work in a classroom setting and in a clinic to learn skills that could lead to jobs at companies with ever-expanding infant care facilities, Solomon-Marks said. Registration for the class--and more than 50 others that include business, computer skills and English as a second language--will run from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday, from Tuesday to July 6. Fees range from $19 to $105.

The summer session starts July 6 and ends Aug. 15. For individuals who do not register on or before July 6, an “open-entry, open-exit” policy enables students to enroll at any time during a session, depending on available space.

The policy also allows students to leave programs early if they are ready for a job, said Richard Wormus, assistant principal of the school.

Wormus said the vocational training center at 11450 Sharp Ave. has more than 12,000 students. For more information, call (818) 365-9645.
