Re “State Senate OKs Insurance Bill on Mental Health,” June 12: As a person who suffers from schizoaffective disorder, a serious mental illness, it was wonderful to see that the mental health insurance parity bill passed by the state Senate made the front page and that on the same day substantial space was given to the mental health advocacy efforts of former First Lady Rosalynn Carter (Life & Style).

Maybe there is hope that someday the mentally ill will be treated with fairness, dignity and respect.
