A woman has been jailed on suspicion of being a major methamphetamine distributor in Thousand Oaks after detectives found $300,000 worth of drugs in her home and car earlier this week, authorities said Wednesday.

Olga Estella Sanchez, 32, was arrested Monday at the K mart Shopping Center at 325 Hampshire Road after deputies observed her in the parking lot negotiating the sale of 2 pounds of methamphetamine, according to authorities.

Inside Sanchez’s car, detectives found the 2 pounds and later uncovered 4 more pounds of methamphetamine at her Lynwood home in Los Angeles, said Ventura County Sheriff’s Capt. Dennis Carpenter.

Deputies had been tipped about the parking lot meeting, Carpenter said. The potential buyer was not an undercover officer, he added.

“It’s a large arrest, but it doesn’t make much of a dent” in the drug problem, Carpenter said.

During the home search, detectives also seized one-third of a pound of rock cocaine, two handguns and about $6,700 in cash, Carpenter said.

Sanchez’s 18-year-old son, Adrian Garcia, was also arrested at the Lynwood home but was later released. Carpenter said evidence against Garcia would be presented to prosecutors, who will decide whether to file charges.

Sanchez, who has no criminal history involving drugs, remained jailed Wednesday evening in lieu of $250,000 bail, Carpenter said. The arrests followed a two-month investigation.
