A 6-year-old girl was airlifted to a hospital Thursday with serious lacerations after the family Rottweiler attacked her and dragged her around the backyard of an El Monte home.
Jessica Marie Gutierrez was playing in the sprinklers when the dog attacked her, cutting her face, El Monte Police said.
The adult Rottweiler dragged the tiny girl around the yard until her two sisters, 16 and 12, managed to free her. They took her inside the home in the 4000 block of Gibson Road and called 911.
Jessica was treated at the scene and then airlifted by a Los Angeles County Fire Department helicopter to Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles, officials said.
Hospital officials said the girl was later transferred in fair condition to a Kaiser Permanente hospital.
