In a move to prevent the “mansionization” of the community, the City Council has approved an ordinance to limit the size of new and remodeled houses.

New or remodeled homes cannot be more than 3,500 square feet, city officials said. They must have a 20-foot setback from the sidewalk and be no taller than 26 feet, according to city officials.

The ordinance, approved by the council Tuesday, also prohibits balconies on two-story structures.
