Cemetery Guard Injured in Truck Accident
A 67-year-old Simi Valley man remained in critical condition Friday night after a Thursday accident in which he backed a pickup truck into a tree at the cemetery where he works, police said.
Security guard Robert Welsh was being treated for major head trauma at Simi Valley Adventist Hospital, where he was taken by ambulance after the 4:48 p.m. crash Thursday, according to the Simi Valley Police Department.
Investigators said they believe that Welsh was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident in the Assumption Cemetery parking lot at 1380 Fitzgerald Road.
There were no other vehicles involved, police said.
