The Business End of the Job
Supporters of the Corporate Combined Volunteer Project gathered at the Girls Inc. Main Center in Costa Mesa on Saturday to help renovate the facility.
Each year the project--composed of employees from more than 35 Orange County corporations--singles out a nonprofit institution for a make-over.
“We’re not an organized charity,” said project director James W. Schramm, a certified public accountant from Orange. “We’re a group of corporate volunteers who get together once a year to make a contribution to the community.”
At the center, elementary-school students participate in after-school programs in math, science, athletics, entrepreneurship, fine arts and personal safety.
The renovation project included upgrading outdoor play areas, repairing termite damage, adding a computer lab and installing built-in desks and cabinets. For information on the volunteer project: (714) 685-0101.
