BANGKOK, Thailand —
Three people were killed and 38 injured when a train plunged into a ravine in Thailand’s mountainous northern Phrae province, a provincial police officer said today.
The train, carrying 300 passengers, skidded off the rail Friday night while traveling to Bangkok from the northern capital of Chiang Mai.
The officer said the death toll was likely to rise as rugged and difficult terrain hampered rescue operations.
