Police Search for 2 Missing Teenage Girls

Share

Police were searching Saturday for two teenage Glendora girls reported missing from an Azusa shopping center two days earlier.

Maria De Jesus Martinez, 14, and Jacqueline Gabriela Alvarez, 13, were dropped off Thursday evening by Maria’s uncle at the Foothill Center at Citrus and Alosta avenues, but failed to call home as expected at 7 p.m. to be picked up, Glendora Police Officer Greg Cunningham said.

Employees of a nearby movie theater told police they saw two teenagers matching the girls’ descriptions in the shopping complex about 8:30 p.m. Thursday. Police said the pair have been dropped off at the center many times before and always called home promptly.

Maria is 5-foot-7, weighs 120 pounds, has brown eyes and long dark hair. She was wearing blue jeans and a light-colored shirt. Jacqueline is 5-foot-2, weighs about 85 pounds and has brown eyes and curly, shoulder-length black hair. She was wearing blue jeans shorts and a blue shirt.

Police have canvassed several areas--including part of Long Beach that authorities said the girls were known to frequent--and posted fliers requesting information about the girls’ whereabouts.

Anyone with information can reach Glendora police at (626) 914-8250.
