PAN Party Leads in Tijuana Mayor Race

TIJUANA, Mexico —
The opposition National Action Party, or PAN, was leading late Sunday night in a bid to retain the mayoral post in the largest Mexican city along the U.S. border.
The main contenders in the five-candidate race were Francisco Vega de la Madrid of PAN, Amador Rodriguez Lozano of PRI and Jesus Ruiz Barraza of the left-center Democratic Revolution Party.
With 32% of the polling places counted, Vega was ahead with 46% of the vote to Rodriguez Lozano’s 38%. Ruiz trailed with 9%.
