Spending Money

Share

The letter from Bradley P. Kottke (March 2) regarding the auction sale of the Windsor wedding cake represents a type of thinking that is all too common today. Kottke’s statement that Benjamin Yim’s thinking in this purchase represents “the idiocy of people who don’t know the value of a dollar,” is, in effect, saying “the idiocy of people who don’t think as I do.”

For all Kottke knows, Yim might donate half of his income to charity. Even if he doesn’t, his money is for him to spend as he sees fit.
