* Michael Young, editor of the Los Angeles Times’ business section in Orange County, has been named managing editor of The Times’ Orange County Edition.
* Santa Barbara-based Big Dog Holdings Inc. reported fourth-quarter net income of $2.9 million, or 22 cents per diluted share, compared with $1.4 million, or 14 cents, a year ago.
* Woodland Hills-based insurance holding company Unico American Corp. jumped $2.50, or 16.7%, to close at $17.50 in Nasdaq trading after it said it is in discussions with an unidentified company about a potential merger.
* Canadian real estate firm TrizecHahn said it will explore selling its 25 U.S. malls after being approached by several interested buyers it did not identify. The Toronto-based company’s portfolio of shopping malls has a total of 23 million square feet and includes several California properties, including in Pasadena.
