City OKs Plants to Help Muffle Noise From Bake Parkway

Share

Trees and shrubs will be planted along bustling Bake Parkway near Jeronimo Road in an effort to help muffle the roar of trucks and cars for nearby residents.

Approval of the landscaping by the City Council this week drew grateful responses from residents whose backyards face the road. Traffic there increased significantly about two years ago when a Bake Parkway exit opened on nearby Interstate 5.

“Thank you, thank you, for finally doing something to help us with the noise,” resident Gayle Peters said.

The landscaping is part of a $300,000 package that also will add greenery to two other parts of town: Jeronimo Road between Bake Parkway and Lake Forest Drive, and Serrano Road at Lake Forest Drive.
