Manpower Inc. Foresees Healthy Spring Hiring

Manpower Inc. says Ventura County employers foresee favorable hiring activity this spring.

This finding is contained in the employment outlook survey, which is taken to measure business staffing plans for the second quarter of 1998.

Among Ventura County companies interviewed for the survey, 36% will recruit more workers from April through June, none intends to decrease payrolls and 44% do not anticipate making any changes.

The remaining 20% have not finalized their plans.

The best employment prospects this spring are seen in construction, durable and nondurable goods manufacturing; finance, insurance and real estate; services, and public administration. Mixed readings are reported in the wholesale/retail trade.

Manpower, the world’s largest temporary help firm, conducts the employment outlook survey on a quarterly basis. The national survey is based on telephone interviews with more than 16,000 public and private employers in 48 U.S. cities.
