Motel Manager Robbed at Gunpoint

Staring down the barrel of a silver-plated revolver, Ed Kane had little choice but to hand over the money.
“He had that thing stuck right between my eyes,” Kane said.
As manager of the Surfside Motel, in the 600 block of Hueneme Road in Port Hueneme, Kane said he handed over about $150 during the robbery, which occurred about 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
“I just told him ‘Whatever you want, just take her easy with that gun.’ ”
Kane cleaned out the cash register and the man darted out of the office, dropping a 20- and a five-dollar bill.
The robber had apparently been casing the motel, and Kane and a tenant noticed him standing outside the office shortly before the robbery, the manager said.
But Port Hueneme police do not have a good description of the suspect, because the man was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a bandanna over his face.
Anyone with any information about the crime is asked to contact the Port Hueneme Police Department at 986-6530.
