Sheraton Anaheim Is Named Hotel of Year

The Sheraton Anaheim Hotel, which fits into the Disneyland neighborhood with its castle theme, has been named the company’s franchise hotel of the year.

The hotel picked up the top award, a glass vase, at ITT Sheraton’s North America owners and operators meeting in New Orleans, said Jeff Morse, the Anaheim hotel’s general manager. The Sheraton chain consists of 450 properties.

Morse credited owner Kaneyoshi Kawamoto’s commitment as key to the hotel’s success. Kawamoto, who bought the hotel in 1991, embarked soon afterward on an extensive renovation of its nearly 490 guest rooms. And he continues to upgrade, spending, for instance, $75,000 to replace bedspreads that no one had complained about, simply because he feels a need to spruce up the place, Morse said.
