SWAGGER STICKLER

Sandy Masuo’s review of “Van Halen III” (March 15) seems as though it was written by someone new to the band, someone without a historical perspective on what made Van Halen special.

Gary Cherone seems like a nice enough guy, but the Van Halen mystique was born from the swagger and attitude of David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar. Three stars for this bland, wandering mixture of songs is far too much praise.

Eddie has truly taken over the band, and hopefully he will realize his mistake and reenlist one of the band’s legendary former frontmen.
