Music From the Underground
A just-published guidebook, “The Tombstone Tourist,” discloses the final resting places of more than 200 of America’s greatest musicians. Author Scott Stanton reveals, for what he says is the first time, the exact location of the unmarked grave sites at Pierce Brothers Westwood Memorial Park of both Frank Zappa and “Only the Lonely” balladeer Roy Orbison. Zappa’s unmarked plot, just above the site dedicated to a Charles Bassler, is near a large tree halfway between the office and entry gates, while Orbison’s unmarked plot is 25 feet to the east, just above Frank Wright Tuttle’s final resting place.
