ORANGE COUNTY EARNINGS

Alyn Corp.: The Irvine producer of metal matrix composite materials reported a first quarter net loss of $2.7 million, or 25 cents a share, compared with a net loss of $943,000, or 9 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue declined 33% to $28,000 from $42,000. The company attributed the greater net loss to increased investment in research and development.
