Newport’s Pacific Life Insurance Picks 7 Vice Presidents
* Pacific Life Insurance Co. in Newport Beach has named seven employees to the position of vice president: Gary L. Falde, individual insurance; M. Kathleen Hunter, annuities; Kent R. Johnson, individual insurance; Marc D. Ley, real estate capital markets; Thomas J. Mays, public affairs; Terry R. Perkins, individual insurance; and Jane Wong-Hsu, securities.
* Al Diaz has been named vice president of operations for Biolase Technology Inc. in San Clemente, a provider of laser-based cosmetic, aesthetic, dental and surgical products. Diaz was previously vice president of operations for the biomedical division of Sorin Biomedica and before that was a director of manufacturing for the cardiovascular group of Baxter Health Care Corp.
* Pasi Hamalainen has been named executive vice president of Pacific Investment Management Co., a unit of Pimco Advisors Holdings LP in Newport Beach. Hamalainen joined the firm in 1994 and is a portfolio manager with responsibilities including mortgage-backed and international securities. He also oversees development of the firm’s quantitative analytics as director of portfolio analytics. In addition, George C. Allan, Tammie J. Arnold, Robert A. Ettl, Raymond G. Kennedy, Thomas J. Otterbein, Scott L. Roney and Kristen M. Wilsey were appointed senior vice presidents.
* Archibald E. Asawa has been selected first vice president for administrative affairs for the new campus of Soka University of America in Aliso Viejo. He was previously a management consultant and advisor and manager of special projects for Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan.
* Robert F. Sherman has joined National Water & Power Inc., an Irvine company that installs and operates a network of utility meters, as senior vice president. Sherman was president and chief operating officer of South West Property Trust until its merger with United Dominion Realty Trust in 1996. He then served as senior vice president of United Dominion, managing all its properties west of the Mississippi.
* Timothy J. Sagehorn has been named vice president at Smith Barney Inc.’s South Coast branch office in Costa Mesa. He was most recently second vice president and portfolio manager. He has also been with Merrill Lynch.
* Gregory P. May has been appointed vice president, leasing and marketing for Transwestern Property Co. in Santa Ana. Before joining the company, May was regional leasing director with USAA Realty Co., and vice president in the South County office of CB Commercial Real Estate Group.
* Anna M. Hutchison has joined Medical Science Systems Inc. in Newport Beach as vice president of managed care. She was formerly director of corporate accounts for Roche-Boehringer Mannheim Pharmaceuticals, and director of managed care at G.D. Searle.
* Ronald J. DeFelice has joined Advantage4, LLC, Power and Communications Systems in Aliso Viejo as chief operating officer. He was previously managing partner and head of the real estate practice in the Orange County office of Morrison & Foerster LLP.
