Child-Care Need

* Kudos to you for your April 28 editorial highlighting the need for affordable, dependable child care in our community. This year, for the first time, United Way made a historic commitment to the community; we would fund 60,000 affordable child-care slots in L.A. County. United Way promised donors that if they help us reach our $59-million fund-raising goal, we will work with our charities to support this important level of service. Of the 250 Community Care charities funded by United Way donor dollars, 50 provide regular child-care services.

United Way urges everyone in the community to support the charities of his or her choice that work so hard every day to keep child care open, affordable and safe to children and families.
