In reference to the debate on “Who Should Decide What Kids Read?” (Voices, April 25), the answer should unequivocally be--the kids. We should be more interested that all kids be able to read, than worry about what they read. We stifle too many kids by not letting them read whatever it is they wish to read.

Too many parents have no trust in their children. They think that reading a few “bad” words or seeing a few “erotic” pictures will corrupt them. The real problem is that not enough children, or for that matter adults, read enough of anything. Most values that we live by originate in the home.
