Cherokee Net Income, Revenues Take Big Jump

Cherokee Inc. saw its net income jump 68% on an 81% rise in revenues for its fiscal year.

The Van Nuys-based apparel licensing concern changed its fiscal year to end Jan. 31, and its latest figures represent the results for eight months.

For that abbreviated fiscal year, Cherokee posted net income of $5.7 million, compared with net income of $3.4 million in the same period a year earlier, while its revenues rose to $8.5 million, up from $4.7 million.

The company licenses its Cherokee brand name to various clothing firms for a royalty, and Cherokee recently acquired the trademarks for other brands such as Sideout, King of the Beach and Sideout Sport.
