Air National Guard Airlift Wing Honored
The 146th Airlift Wing of the California Air National Guard was recognized over the weekend for its readiness and performance during deployment, officials said Monday.
The 146th, based at the Channel Islands National Guard Station near Port Hueneme, provides airlift support in military operations across the globe.
The unit also helps fight California wildfires by dropping fire retardant. In recent years, the unit has flown about 5,000 wildfire-related missions.
Members of the 146th received the award from Maj. Gen. Robert Barrow, commander of the California Air National Guard.
