* Newbridge Networks Corp. said AT&T; Corp. will use some of its high-capacity equipment that carries voice, data and video traffic in a new communications network for business customers, which may help the Canadian company win larger contracts. The value of the agreement with AT&T; wasn’t disclosed.

* McGraw-Hill Cos. agreed to sell its Information Technology and Communications Group, which includes computer magazines Byte and LAN Times, to CMP Media Inc. for $28.6 million. CMP’s print publications, which also have online editions, include InformationWeek, Network Computing and Windows Magazine.

* Coca-Cola Co. said it reached an agreement with the Retailer’s Bakery Assn. for the right to sell its soft drinks at more than 5,000 independent bakeries across the U.S., its latest move to lead the fight for soft-drink supremacy at restaurants and retailers.

* Vanguard Group, the nation’s second-biggest mutual fund company, is forming a joint venture with a unit of Australia’s Lend Lease Corp. that will offer investment services to sponsors of corporate and government retirement plans. The joint venture is Vanguard’s first in its 24-year history.

* Fidelity Investments opened a new diversified bond fund that will invest in everything from government and investment-grade corporate bonds to junk bonds and emerging market debt. The Fidelity Strategic Income Fund’s objective is high current income and capital appreciation, the nation’s largest mutual fund company said.

* Thiokol Corp. is changing its name to Cordant Technologies Inc., effective Thursday, and will trade under the new stock symbol CDD. Thiokol, known for making rocket motors that lift the space shuttle, has diversified its business in the last several years as it attempts to decrease dependence on government contracts.

* Kimberly-Clark Corp., maker of Kleenex tissue and Huggies diapers, will close its pulp mill in Mobile, Ala., fire 450 employees and put a 500,000-acre tree-harvesting business up for sale.
