City Attorney Leaving for Job in Palo Alto

Share

After two decades as city attorney, Wynne S. Furth announced Tuesday that she is resigning to work as a land use attorney for the city of Palo Alto.

Furth, a longtime Claremont resident who works under a contract with the city, said she is leaving to be closer to her husband, a former Pitzer College professor who is now chairman of the Department of Anthropology at UC Santa Cruz. She will be succeeded by an attorney from her law firm, Ontario-based Best, Best & Krieger.

“Working with Wynne for almost 18 years has been a pleasure,” said Mayor Suzan Smith. “She is caring, knowledgeable and dedicated. We shall miss her but wish her well in her new position.”

City Manager Glenn Southard said Furth has been the architect of land use in Claremont for much of her tenure and helped shape the city’s landscape.
