CHP Settles Harassment Claim With Homeless Man

Share

Heading off a potential lawsuit, the California Highway Patrol has reached a settlement with a homeless man who accused two CHP officers of harassing him by picking him up on four occasions and dropping him off 15 miles away.

Terms of the settlement are confidential, but a source said the CHP has agreed to give the 52-year-old man $15,000.

CHP Officers Wade Allen and Temujin Jones were arrested last month on suspicion of kidnapping, exhibiting a deadly weapon and, on one occasion, dousing the victim with pepper spray.

An investigation began after the man, who has requested anonymity, approached a CHP motorcycle officer to complain.
