Dispatcher Resigns After Embezzlement Charges Filed
A senior dispatcher who was charged with embezzling from the Police Department has resigned from his job and quit the city’s reserve police force.
Sean O’Connor, 23, quit shortly before a hearing to determine his future with the city, Chief Michael Berkow said.
O’Connor has pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of grand theft by embezzlement of $825, the district attorney’s office said.
He is accused of pocketing $275 on three occasions in March from drivers who retrieved their impounded vehicles, prosecutors said.
