George A. Schrader, a former Yale professor and recent Ventura resident, died Monday. He was 80.
Born in English, Ind., on May 30, 1917, Schrader grew up in Blue Springs, Mo. At Yale University, Schrader, who held a doctorate, taught philosophy for more than 35 years. He served as chairman of Yale’s philosophy department and master of its Branford College. Schrader moved to Ventura in 1996.
He is survived by his sisters, Helen Schrader and Dorothy Huffstuttler of Palo Alto, daughters Ann Kelley Salahuddin of Ventura, Nancy Leinwand of Minnesota, and Barbara Morris of Connecticut, and six grandchildren.
A private family memorial service was held in Ventura. Arrangements were under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura.
